With the newly-announced release of Apple’s follow-up to the highly successful iPhone series, gamers across the globe were left with a burning question: How will iOS-based games perform on the new iPhone 5S?

Leveraging on this newest model, one of the most successful (and well-received) titles on the App Store, Infinity Blade, will release its third installment specifically designed for the iPhone 5S. Chair Entertainment, the makers of the Infinity Blade saga, announced recently during Apple’s press event held in their headquarters that Infinity Blade III: Reborn is available for play on September 17, a few days shy of the iPhone 5S’ commercial release.

However, the soon-to-be phased-out iPhone 5 on o2.co.uk can still run this RAM-intensive mobile game. It’s set to revolutionize smartphone gaming as we know it. With the iPhone 5S’ Open GL ES 3.0 and its unprecedented 64-bit A7 Chipset, we expect nothing less than this legendary title with this game’s real-life graphics.

The app is initially priced at $7 at the US App Store. Co-founder and Creative Head of Chair Entertainment, Donald Mustard, had this to say about how their new game is going to change the mobile gaming landscape: “we’re so proud of Infinity Blade III and feel it not only offers a powerful finale to the series, but also gives mobile gaming another giant push forward.”

Two playable characters were announced – Isa and Siris. The former seems to be following the female ninja-thief-agile warrior archetype, while the latter is its antithesis: a brawler. Expectedly, both characters will offer different play styles that could eat up more playing hours than its predecessors. The developers said that they’ve increased the amount of collectible weapons and items. Also, they decided to retain (thankfully) the game’s filtering system, which made Infinity Blade I extremely tedious.

After countless amounts of hours spent hacking and slashing enemies, fans have claimed that Infinity Blade’s ingenious use of the iOS’ maximum potential is one of the most important innovations in modern gaming history. A lot is expected from the game’s third installment: polished battle dynamics, a better equipment and gem crafting system, cut scenes and voice acting, and, of course, more vicious battle sequences. Overall, the series has made such an impact, that it has reached the level of notable and ground-breaking games in the past such as Pokemon, Grand Theft Auto, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Unfortunately, fans of the series would be sad to hear that there will be no chance whatsoever that the game’s previously announced spin-off called Infinity Blade: Dungeons will come to fruition. There has been no buzz regarding the revival of this project despite the loud clamour from fans.

Infinity Blade III: Reborn will run of the following iOS devices: iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 4. The game is also compatible with the iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini, and both version 4 and 5 of the iPod Touch.
